Tragedy averted

I obviously took the cleaning out the house thing a little too far...I realized late last night that I hadn't seen my teaching paycheck after I initially opened it. Uh oh! After searching high and low and digging through the old trash (I had to stop when I encountered the writhing maggots and stinking, rotting food) I came up empty handed. Aaron was less than convinced that they would cut me a new check, but I felt sure they must have a procedure in place for scatterbrains like me. Fortunately, they are stopping payment on the old check and hopefully cutting me a new one as I type this. WHEW! I must admit I do feel a bit guilty about creating all of that extra work for someone, but not gulity enough to forego my paycheck!

I remembered my computer today, so while Bryn is ensconced at zoo camp I am enjoying a decaf caramel latte (sans whipped cream and with skim milk as a nod to my so-called diet), catching up on my teaching and doing some blog reading. Ahhhhhhh! The project for tomorrow is trying to find a pair of shoes for the bridesmaid dress I will have to stuff myself into...the fun never ends.

Oh No! I'm glad they're gonna get ya another one! Watch, though, as soon as you get the new check, the other one will show up, LOL.

Enjoy the rest of your day ... and that ewwwwwy nasty thing you're drinking, LOL!

Wow...glad they're going to cut you a new one! Big relief, I'm sure! But I'm still sorry you had to go through that panic! I just hate that feeling! The day we headed to Niagara Falls, I couldn't find my driver's license (which, of course, I needed to get in and out of Canada). Luckily I only had to suffer through about 5 minutes of that sheer panic before it turned up.

How was zoo camp today?

We share in the scatterbrained category - sounds like something I'd do. Glad they are sending you a new one. When the first one shows up (because it probably will), don't forget and try to cash it - that would be funny! or not!

Glad you remembered your computer and were able to relax too.

Good luck with the shoes....and the stuffing...lol!

Oh wow, what a frustrated feeling! I'm so glad you called and they are stopping and cutting you a new one. It is a little work for someone, but probably not much and I would be willing to bet it's not the first time they've ever done it.

Yum, caramel latte sounds so good :)

Oh man. That can really get you feeling panicky huh? I am glad they are cutting you a new one without any hassle.

Stories like this reinforce our decision to recycle every scrap of paper here rather than throw them away. (We shred any "sensitive" ones first.) Going through a bag of paper for one particular piece is oh so much easier than going through trash.

Jean-

You are so right about the recycling thing...and the sad thing about it is that we usually recycle just about everything. But since our garage was filled wiht sale stuff and our recycle bins had been emptied, we fell off the wagon for about 3 days until the sale was over and our bins could have their place back. I guess that will teach me to take any time off from recycling!
