Mother's Day is kind of like Valentine's Day - great if you have a reason to celebrate it and painful if you don't have a reason to. Ours will likely be low key and involve eating out (because I use any excuse I can to do that). I do feel fortunate that this year I have two babies to celebrate being a mom to. And I got a wonderful watercolor portrait of myself from Bryn with a message on the top that says "Dear Mom, I love you! You are so beautiful! Thank you for loving me! God made you Great! Happy Mother's Day!" Grant will likely either pee or spit up on me. What more could a mother ask for?
We had some friends over tonight and had a house full of people. Elmer didn't eat any of the children so it was a good night.
Bryn had another soccer game today and a mother made a spectacle of herself by running out onto the field during the game and grabbing some kid that had pushed her kid and forced him to apologize to her kid. Can you say "helicopter parent"? It would have been one thing if the kid had pushed him down and kicked him in the head, but it is a bunch of six year olds in the heat of the moment during the game. Aaron has threatened to disown me if i ever try something like that...
I have spent a lot of time online trying to figure out which bottles and sippy cups are BPA free to avoid putting toxic substances in my kids. Sometimes I feel like I am totally over reacting and then I feel like I should at least do what I can to keep all these crazy chemicals out of our bodies. It seems like a losing battle.
On a brighter note, Aaron's mom is continuing to have a great recovery from her surgery. I think she may start training for a marathon before too long!

That mom...unbelievable! I do hope the coaches said something to her, and made her apologize! Soccer starts here this week, which is such a mixed blessing. Annie loves it, and it is fun to watch her games, but it seems to take over our lives. I guess I should just be thankful that the boys aren't playing this year, so it will only take up 2 nights a week for the next 3 months, instead of 4 nights a week like it used to. Maybe 2 nights won't be so bad.

Why can't mom's learn to let their children handle some things on their own? It used to be that way. Now days it seems parent's either step in for every single little thing, or don't pay attention to them at all. I really try to be more in the middle. I want my kids to know they can handle things on their own - I don't want them to grow up TOTALLY dependent on me! I think that's what's wrong with some younger adults today - they don't know how to do things without mommy (or someone) holding their hand! Not to mention how embarassing that has to be for the kids!
OK - Sorry - I didn't mean to get off on a tangent there!
