Dog hunting...

I think we have decided it is about time to add a new family member. We were planning on waiting until after Christmas so we wouldn't have to kennel the dog while we are in Hawaii, but after thinking about trying to housebreak a puppy in January and the possibility that I will be on bedrest we have decided to start looking now. I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean anything will happen yet, but the wheels have started to turn. We are headed over to a friend's house to check out her Brittany Spaniel puppies (bigger and sheddier than I think I want, but I am sure i can be sucked in by some cute 7 week old puppy eyes!) and I am sure they will be adorable.

Our trip to the pumpkin patch was cancelled yesterday - it was icky and rainy so we sat around and did puzzles and read books and watched movies. Exciting stuff!

If anyone has nay favorite small dog breeds or some tips on how to pick the perfect puppy, be sure to weigh in. We need all the help we can get!

So you think there's a possibility that you're going to go visit these sweet little pups in person, and then walk away saying, "No." Ummm...good luck with that, girl!

Oh yeah, you'll get sucked in by puppy eyes every time! There's nothing cuter.......then they grow up!
I don't have many suggestions, we had a black lab we loved but our kids were older or rather it was my son David's dog and I think he was 8 or so when we got him. We had a golden retriever when our 1st 2 kids were little, those dogs are good with kids but they might get bigger than you want. Our son got 2 beagle puppies for his kids last year....they stay outside and I think they howl at times and chew and tear up. But I imagine there are plusses and minuses to most any dog breed!
Hope you're doing good!

Ooh, a puppy! I don't have any suggestions on small breeds, since we've always had bigger dogs (retrievers). I haven't gotten a puppy in a long time. Had too much of a disaster with one years ago, so we go rescue an older dog now :)

Good luck finding the perfect new member of your family!
