I probably would be better off...

just staying off of Facebook. Why? Because I am way too easily aggravated. A friend posted that he had been called a white devil by a homeless guy outside the coffee shop and I shared a story about I another friend I know that got cussed out by a homeless guy for buying him a sandwich that he didn't like. And another person responded "Would you eat potatoes if you didn't like them? Just asking." And my answer is no. But I also wouldn't cuss out the person who gave them to me when I was hungry. Just saying.

There is a lot to be said about being a gracious receiver of a gift. Goes back to that whole concept of grateful, which it doesn't sound like that the homeless people were. Beggars can't be choosers. If they want to be choosers, get a job and buy their own food.

Everyone deserves a pass as we all have crappy, grumpy days. However, I don't like being called out on Facebook by someone I have never met as a potentially bad person for thinking (and saying) that ALL people should graciously receive something that is offered as an act of kindness. I don't think being homeless gives you a right to be an asshole any more than having a home gives me the right to be an asshole. That has never stopped me from being one, but I don't expect someone to defend my asshole-ishness!

Yikes! Perhaps there's a reason I never think to go on facebook.

I hope you responded to that person.

And Kara, for the record, I've never known you to be an asshole. :)

Ah, Debi...you are either just biased or too polite to say what I do know about myself! Thanks, though!

I did respond (of course - like I can keep my mouth shut!). She conceded that there was no reason for him to be rude and cuss the guy for buying a sandwich he didn't like. I'm pretty sure she didn't believe the concession but chose not to provoke me any further!

If I were starving, I would eat potatoes even if I didn't like them. (Though really doesn't everyone like potatoes?)
