Another Milestone

Bryn started middle school today. Since middle school starts in 5th grade here, I realize that she is technically not REALLY middle school age, but still. Time flies.

We sent her out the door and she never looked back. Sniff. That is my forward looking, independent kid, I guess.

Reports from her first day were good. I decided to go into this year without gathering much info about the specific teachers or the administration to avoid any preconceived notions. So far, things are going smoothly. Now to get through day 2.

Oh my gosh, I totally teared up here! I know I shouldn't have been shocked by how grown up Bryn looks, but I was. Grown up and beautiful, and I'm sure just every bit as sweet and friendly and independent and intelligent as ever. I hope she has a phenomenal year!!!

I love your idea of avoiding preconceived notions...and I think I'll follow your lead when Max hits middle school next year. We love his new elementary school so much, and I'd like to just believe that the middle school in our new district will be just as awesome.

My middle school started in 5th grade (and still does), and I never realized it was any different until our kids started going to school. Here the middle schools start in 6th grade. And Rich's middle school didn't start until 7th grade (and still does). So I have to admit I don't even know what's considered typical.

Anyway, again, I hope Bryn has a fabulous school year!!! And that the rest of you do too! Because school has a way of taking up everyone's time and energy, doesn't it?

Love you. Seriously, so much!

Debi - I always assumed middle school started in 6th grade. I went to a K-8 school, so I don't really know either, I guess!

I have had one little meltdown over Bryn's teacher thus far, but I am OK now and still glad I did/have not looked for any other information about her or the school. One day at a time and judging by what actually happens rather than what I hear, right?!?! Hoping it works!

Oh no!!! about the meltdown. I hope it was a fluke and everything really does turn out wonderful!!! I'm definitely taking your approach (of course, that's fairly easy since we really don't know anyone to ask anyway). We get to meet Max's teacher on Thursday. *fingers crossed*

Thanks, seriously, I am very happy for you to select photos & use, along with words; I don't really think I can write word for you. I hope this is OK, like your blog..
