The Joys of Motherhood

Since Grant has been such a good baby for the past 3 months, I had forgotten what it is like to have a baby that doesn't sleep and cries a lot. Fortunately for me Grant is reminding me of the joys of that particular aspect of motherhood. For the past few nights he has been waking up every couple of hours and refuses to go to sleep without being walked around. Not fun. Bryn was never a good sleeper but since this is a new development for Grant I don't know what to do with him. And we all just end up tired and grumpy...sigh. I know this won't last forever and he still is a pretty good baby overall, but he shouldn't have gotten us all spoiled in the beginning, darn it!

We had a nice weekend...Aaron's parents came in town and watched the kids for us while we went out to dinner on Friday for our anniversary. And then went to Walmart to buy a shovel afterwards. We know how to have fun!

We also got some more planting done in the front...it is going to be fabulous when it is done. We just have to get it there!

I got all of my grades turned in for class so the summer semester is officially over. Thank goodness!

Excitement coming up this week:
Girl's night out
dentist appointment for me
Grant's 4 month pediatrician appointment

Are you jealous?!?!

The fun never ends

I am STILL dealing with my spring online class...I have a student that failed that claims he did the work and I didn't give him credit for it. Of course it is the course that I had the problems with so I don't have the complete record and will have to hash it out with tech support...sigh. Funny thing is, his was the only grade I was sure of and didn't need to recover the class records for...I knew he failed!

The kids and I survived our cross country trek...we had a great time in Denver and at the shower. It was fun to see everyone and Nicole got a lot of good stuff for baby Bonnie! The only bummer is that I managed to leave Bryn's life vest at the hotel we stayed at along the way and they of course didn't find it. Funny how it was able to vanish into thin air...a trick I hadn't seen it do before.

Bryn is in Animal camp this week at the Arts Center. Today they were superhero endangered species and they all had on masks and paper capes when we picked them up. Too cute.

It is way late so I have to go to bed but will hopefully get caught up soon.

Post 4th post!

We had a busy July 4th holiday...

We had parties to go to on the 3rd and the 4th and got our fill of fireworks at both. Bryn really got into them this year and even convinced Aaron to go buy some! The party on the 4th was a block party so we got to hang out with some of our neighbors and get to know them a little better.

Aaron's parents came in the night of the 4th and we put them to work bright and early the next morning. The time has finally come for us to get our landscaping in front done and they were the lucky recruits for the project. I think there was a record set for the number of showers taken in our house this weekend since it was a hot and dirty couple of days! But we got a lot of work done...I never thought I would think an empty flower bed full of dirt looked so great, but after all the hard work it took to dig it out, till it up and edge it, we thought it was fantastic! We did get a few plants in but still have a long way to go. One of the flower beds in front is 25 X 15 feet (that one was here when we moved in so I am not responsible for the crazy huge size of it!). The project will continue over the next couple of weeks and I will definitely post before and after pictures when we are done!

Bryn, Grant and I are headed out to Denver on Wednesday for Nicole's baby shower...it occurred to me yesterday that I may need to be panicking a bit about planning. Fortunately Cheryl isn't panicking either and we decided we will have time to work on the menu and other stuff once we get there.

Off to bed...I am behind on my sleep and don't see a way to get a whole lot over the next week or so - I better get some now!

Here I am!

So I am still not totally caught up, but I am forging ahead and I am just going to start where I am and go forward. I figure there is probably nothing that is going to change the course of world history in my to do pile so it might as well stay where it is.

They are FINALLY almost done working on our street. It has been a long and painful process and there is no telling when they will put our mailboxes back up (it will be so disappointing not to have to pick it up at the post office - ha!).

The new pool opened today and we actually went for an hour or so. Bryn swam and tried out the waterslides while Grant and I sat in the shade. I dont' know how oten we'll be there since I am such a lover of public pools - I guess it will be as often as Bryn can wear me down to take her!

And now for some pictures...

Bryn helping put together the new patio furniture (it will be so nice to have a comfy place to sit in the stifling heat - if you have to be hot you might as well have a comfortable chair!)

Some crafty stuff for Nicole's baby shower in a couple of weeks

That's all for now!
